The Hague, The Netherlands, 27 to 30 June 2023, LIFELONG DEVELOPMENT AS A STANDARD

Noloc, together with Euroguidance and the Open University, is organizing the 45th global IAEVG conference. This will take place from 27 to 30 June 2023 in the World Forum in The Hague. The theme is 'Lifelong development as a standard'. Do you want to contribute content? You can respond to the 'Call for Papers' by 15 December at the latest.

We are very happy to welcome you to the International IAEVG conference. Lifelong development as a standard is not jus a theme - it is what we aim for, a goal as well as a very needed future. We invite you to join us and participate, collaborate and innovate on topics that matter.

On behalf of Noloc, the Dutch Association of Guidance Counsellors, we would like to welcome you to our conference on June 28-30, 2023. The theme of the conference is Life Long Development as a standard. The labor market is changing rapidly. Old professions dissapear, new ones take their place and are developing faster and faster. People need to adapt at a pace that matches those developments. Also challenges like sustainability and climate change requires that people constantly acquire new knowledge and skills. The key is to stay on top of these developments by learning and development.

The World Economic Forum indicates that 85 million jobs will be lost worldwide by 2025 due to technology. The 97 million new jobs that will replace them demand different new skills for employees, so investing in learning and development is crucial. In short, it is the pursuit of a positive and self-evident learning culture.

Where do our educational and vocational guidance counsellors find themselves in all this? How can we deal with the current situation, and what will it be like in the future? What are the challenges facing us? What will be demanded of us in the future? Our conference in The Hague Welcome promises to be an interesting international meeting on a social, cultural, and intellectual level. Where the sharing of knowledge, thoughts and ideas contributes to the career professional of the future.

The conference is an excellent opportunity to make relevant research or an innovative case study in our beautiful field visible. Anyone who wants to contribute to the content of the conference can respond to the 'Call for Papers'. This document can be found on the conference site. Each proposal should have a clear link to scientific research and/or innovative practices and an important link to the theme or one of the sub-themes of the conference. A proposal must be submitted in English. Two members of the scientific committee will assess the proposal.

11-13 September, 2019 Bratislava, Slovakia  Career Guidance for Inclusive Society

Slovakia is a young country, established in early 90´s of the 20th century on the grounds of previous Czechoslovakia, a country existing in the middle of Europe since the end of the World War I. Nevertheless, career guidance and counselling services have in our country and in this region quite a long history – the first guidance centres were established here in late 1920´s, only about twenty years later than historically the first one of Frank Parsons. Much has changed since those times, we are now facing the same challenges as all other developed countries in the world, better career guidance services for all is one of them. Theme of the conference “Career Guidance for Inclusive Society“ is moreover strong and urgent.

2-4 October, 2018 Gothenburg, Sweden  A Need for Change

The theme of the conference is A Need for Change. Major conflicts and environmental disasters in recent years have resulted in the biggest mass movement of refugees the world has ever experienced. Countless children, young people and adults have been forced to create a new future in a new country and a new culture. Labour mobility is greater than ever. In some countries, there is talk of a ‘brain drain’, whilst at the same time companies are relocating in their quest for cheaper labour. The growing pace of technological development has meant that many of the professions we have today did not exist yesterday, and no one can be certain that they will exist tomorrow. Working in the same profession for your entire life is a utopia for the young people of today, but is perhaps not something they would particularly aspire to. At the same time, older people risk being excluded from employment as they lack the skills and qualifications for the labour market of the future. Many young people also live their lives via social media, which in many instances is not an area in which educational and vocational guidance counsellors have established a tangible presence.

Where do our educational and vocational guidance counsellors find themselves in all this? How can we deal with the current situation, and what will it be like in the future? What are the challenges facing us? What will be demanded of us in the future?
